Welcome to the Lagan Valley & South Down Circuit of the Methodist Church in Ireland.

We are the people of nine Methodist societies connected by geography and heart, with a staff team and great volunteers who share time and resources to encourage one another in stepping out in God’s mission to the world.

The Methodist Conference (June 2021) agreed to the amalgamation of our three circuits into one: Lisburn & Dromore; Ballynahinch, and; Donard (which is the new society formed by the merger of the Dundrum, Newcastle and Downpatrick congregations). Then at Conference 2023 it was agreed The Church on the Hill, Maghaberry would become part of the Circuit. The new circuit is functioning in a very similar manner to before, but with added opportunities for shared worship, training and support. The Superintendent is the Rev. David Turtle and the circuit name is ‘Lagan Valley & South Down’.

Our societies (congregations) are formed by people who live throughout the Lagan Valley & South Down area, from Dromore and Lisburn in the West, through Ballynahinch and stretching out as far as Killyleagh and Downpatrick to the East, and down to Newcastle and Annalong in the South. Our gathered worship happens in church buildings at Ballynahinch, Broomhedge, Donard [meeting in Newcastle], Dromore, Magheragall, Priesthill (Zion) [near Hillsborough], Seymour Street (near Wallace Park, Lisburn), The Church on the Hill, Maghaberry, and Trinity (just off the Prince William Road, Lisburn).

Wherever you live in this wide area, Methodists gather not too far away, and we welcome you to join us in living wholeheartedly as followers of Jesus, for the transformation of the world.

Please use the links above to discover more about us, and know that you are always welcome to join us for worship and other aspects of our life – key shared events will be in the calendar at the bottom of the page.

We are part of the North Eastern District of the Methodist Church in Ireland.

Circuit Accounts for 2022

We are thankful to all our society treasurers, and especially the Circuit Treasurer, for their work in keeping accounts through the year. Final accounts for the year ending 31 December 2022 are now available to view and download below.

Please note, while we are now a new circuit comprising nine societies, these accounts relate to the former Lisburn and Dromore Circuit as our finances won’t be amalgamated until 1 January 2024. The Church on the Hill, Maghaberry, is a separate entity for the purposes of financial reporting as they are a Covenant Church (joint Church of Ireland/Methodist).
